55% more global energy demands
In 2008 the International Energy Agency (IEA) projected that global energy demands could grow by 55% from 2005 to 2030.
This has raised serious concerns as to whether we have sufficient energy resources to meet the demands and furthermore how to reduce the resulting 57% increase of carbon dioxide emission.
As responsible lighting designers we have asked ourselves what we can do to sustain global resources?

Lighting and energy consumption
Lighting consumes 19% of global electricity, according to the international energy agency.

Changing to energy efficient lighting technology can save at least 38% of the global lighting energy consumption. The international energy agency estimates that these savings equal to 9.3 EJ/year and 1.2 GtCO²/year by 2030.
Energy Efficiency Scheme starts in April 2010
Energy Efficiency Scheme formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is the UK’s mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme, starting in April 2010. It has been designed to raise awareness, improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) within our environment.
